BILIARY ASCARIASIS WITH PREVIOUS STENT IN A 50 YEARS LADY

A 50 years old lady from Gilgit was hospitalized in the surgical ward of Military Hospital Rawalpindi with one month history of pain epigastrium. She had fever with chills and rigors which settled after antibiotic treatment at Gilgit. She had nausea and vomiting for a few days before admission. Her past history revealed that she underwent ERCP 02 years ago, for a dilated common bile duct and intrahepatic ducts. Two plastic stents were inserted and bile was sent for cytology. She was advised follow up after one week but she was lost follow up.
Clinical examination was unremarkable. Her investigations revealed serum alkaline phosphatase 1130 U/L (Normal upto 310) with serum bilirubin of 14 μmol/L (Normal upto17) and serum ALT of 30 U/L (Normal upto 35). Ultrasonography abdomen done at Gilgit showed stent in CBD, with normal CBD and pancreatic duct.
