Policy for Supplement, Theme Issue, and Special Issue

LAST UPDATED 23/12/2024

PAFMJ accepts supplement publishing requests made by external organisations based on different topics, abstracts, or   conference meetings.

It is important to note that:

  • Supplements should follow the same policies as those of the primary journal.
  • The Editor takes full responsibility for the policies, practices, and content of supplements, including complete control of the decision to select authors, peer reviewers, and content for the supplement. Editing by the funding organization is not permitted.
  • The Editor has the right to appoint one or more external editors of the supplement and takes responsibility for the work of those editors. The external editors are expected to adhere to the editorial policies and standards of PAFMJ. While external editors may contribute to the selection of content, the editorial independence and final decision rest with the PAFMJ editorial team.
  • The Editor retains the authority to send supplement manuscripts for external peer review and to reject manuscripts submitted for the supplement with or without external review. These conditions should be made known to authors and any external editors of the supplement before beginning editorial work on it.
  • Authors and external editors are required to disclose any conflicts of interest, financial or otherwise, that could influence the content of the supplement or special issue.
  • The source of the idea for the supplement, should be clearly stated in the introductory material. The editorial content and decision-making process rests with the editorial board of PAFMJ.
