Abstract

Introduction

The histopathological audit is necessary to monitor the quality of work being carried out in the histopathology department. It is a process to detect inadequacies, to update procedures and for an improved final diagnosis. Furthermore with the change of staff at all level, there is a tendency for previously set standards to be modified and for the level of care to alter [1].

The specialist curriculum in “Histo-pathological audit” will be an educational programme for trainee, who enters full time training in FCPS, M Phil and PhD histopathology at  AM College, Rawalpindi, Pakistan.

The specialist-training programme will span during the first two years of training in histopathology. Attendance in group-discussions, relevant post-graduate courses and workshop, so designed, will be mandatory. Assessment will be done on monthly & quarterly basis. Development of this short course can also be used as model for development of any new course in any speciality.
