Abstract

A 20 year old male was hospitalized with history of paroxysmal headache, palpitation, occasional sweating and raised blood pressure for the last several months. Before he reported to our hospital, he was under treatment of some GP who put him on antidepressants and also prescribed antihypertensives to use occasionally as he found his blood pressure on higher side on one or two occasions. At the time of admission in our hospital his blood pressure was around 140/100 mmHs and he was put on 12.5 mg Captopril x 8 hourly. On third hospitalization day he developed severe exploding headache and his blood pressure went up to 220/120 mmHs which was controlled with increasing doses of Captopril and intravenous Isosorbide dinitrate. A similar episode occurred a few days later with blood pressure rising above 200/120 which was managed accordingly.
