A CASE OF RETROPERITONEAL DERMOID CYST

Abstract

2 years old female child, resident of Baagh, who reported to the radiology department MH Rawalpindi, for ultrasound abdomen, on the morning of 16 sep 08, with history of increasing abdominal circumference, for last 2 months, according to the mother of the patient. There was no history of diarrhea, constipation, altered bowel habit, abdominal discomfort, vomiting or any other urinary or bowel complaint. General physical examination revealed, an afebrile, active, child, with protuberant abdomen, sitting in the lap of mother, with no jaundice, pallor, cyanosis, clubbing or any sign of distress. The growth parameters of the child were within normal range, for that particular age. Systemic examination revealed, distended a soft nontender abdomen, with a soft palpable mass, extending 3 cm below the right and left costal margins, in midclavicular line on both the sides. Liver and spleen were not palpable. The bowel sounds were normal. Rest of the physical examination was unremarkable. Laboratory investigations including, blood complete picture, urine routine examination, liver function tests, antibody titers against hydatid cyst and X ray chest were normal
